Hair Transplant

Male-Pattern Baldness

This is the most common type of hair loss in men. It is linked to hormones and genetic predisposition. The pattern of hair loss generally starts with a receding hair line and hair thinning on the crown. Each follicle of hair sits in a tiny canal. Baldness occurs when the hair strand shrinks over time. Eventually, the hair follicles do not grow new hair. However, the follicles remain alive which makes it possible to grow new hair.

Hair Transplant Surgery

Dr. Solomon is considered an expert in treating hair loss for both male and female patients. Hair transplantation is a unique procedure requiring precision, attention to detail, and an understanding of your goals. Dr. George Solomon specializes in hair-loss treatments including hair transplant repair, hairline lowering, male-pattern baldness, and women’s hair loss. Due to recent advancements in surgical techniques and technologies, hair restoration surgery now offers hope for patients with hair loss. Results are natural and far superior to those of the past. Today, these improvements have created unprecedented interest and demand for surgical hair restoration as the method of choice for treating hair loss and returning confidence, self-esteem, and a youthful appearance.

Each patient is unique; therefore, results of treatment may vary.

Hair transplants consist of removing small plugs of hair from areas where the hair is still growing and then placing it in the areas that are balding.

Hair Transplant Procedure

The first step of a hair transplant surgery involves the removal of hair follicles located at the back of the head. Once removed, they are relocated to the areas that are balding. The second step sees the donor area hair being trimmed, following which, it is administered local anesthesia. The donor area tissue containing the hair follicles is then surgically removed and the area is sutured.

The patient’s hair is combed over the donor area sutures, which can be removed ten days after the surgery. Follicular unit grafts are dissected and prepared by technicians using a microscope.

Next, it’s all about preparing the bald recipient area. Local anesthesia is first administered to the patient, following which incisions are made in the recipient area. The follicular unit grafts that were prepared in an earlier step are now placed in the recipient area.

Post-Surgery

After the surgery is completed, the patient’s operated area will have visible incisions along with some short hair. Some redness may also be present.

However, the redness vanishes on its own within a weak and the incision marks are healed naturally as well. Patients are advised not to use shampoos for two – three days as the chemicals inside of them can cause irritation in the treatment area. The bald recipient area should also be protected as much as possible from excessive sun exposure. Patients are also prescribed antibiotics for preventing infections.

All in all, a hair transplant surgery is the best way for you to keep the baldness at bay and feel confident about yourself. All it takes is a little bit of care post-surgery, and in a few days, you should be able to tell the difference, along with the world around you.

Dr. Solomon and his staff made my experience great! The whole process was simple and easy going from start to finish. I couldn’t be happier with my results!
