Gynecomastia or “man boobs” is an embarrassing condition that affects nearly 65-70 % of males. Guys with enlarged breasts often wear double shirts, haunch over to cover up their enlarged breasts, and avoid taking off their shirt in locker rooms or in front of their loved one’s. Gynecomastia has a significant negative impact on self-esteem and psychology and the well being of the individual.

What Is Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia is a medical condition that causes excess tissue to form in the male chest, resulting in what is commonly referred to as “man boobs.” The issue can be compounded by the accumulation of excess fat in the breasts.
Gynecomastia can affect men of all ages, though it primarily occurs in young men undergoing puberty and older individuals. Though this condition is typically not painful, it can be significantly detrimental to a man’s self-esteem and can prevent him from feeling comfortable with his appearance inside and outside of clothing.
Fortunately, gynecomastia can be effectively addressed with the help of male breast reduction. Dr. George Solomon is a surgeon who specializes in the surgical correction of gynecomastia. He has provided numerous patients with the care they need and can use his surgical expertise to provide you with outstanding results.

What Causes Gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is typically the result of an increase in the production of estrogen in the male body, sometimes triggered by a decrease in the production of testosterone. Estrogen is responsible for breast growth.
When estrogen levels become higher than normal, it causes an increase in the growth of glandular tissue in the breasts, as well as increased fat accumulation. This can result in:
- Increased breast size
- Swelling
- Tenderness
- Discharge from the nipples
