Dr. Solomon of [primary_practice] describes the 2 types of procedures that can add volume and fullness into the lips.

“For lip augmentation or plumping the lips, there are 2 different ways of doing that. You can use a filler, and most of the time what we use for that is hyaluronic acids because these are reversible; so if something happened, you could always reverse these fillers. And, an example of these fillers would be something like Restylane, Juvederm, Captique, Perlane, or Belotero. These fillers last about 6 months. Some people have a high metabolism and it may not last that full 6 months and they need a touch up. However, for the most part, they usually last about 6 months.

If somebody metabolizes these products very, very quickly, and they don’t want to use any fillers, then silicone implants can also be used. This is an outpatient procedure. It’s done in the office, and basically we measure you for the right implant. They come in 3 different sizes: small, medium and large. And then we do the measurements also of the lip. Then under local anesthesia we make an incision from one side of the lip to the other. We insert the implant and put a small stitch that dissolves in about 5-7 days, and you’ll have a full lips.”
