And, there really is a simple answer. Yes. And No.
Yes, you can gain weight after the procedure. Liposuction removes fat deposits from the treatment area. And as Dr. Solomon noted a while ago in this forum:
“Every person is born with about five billion fat cells. That’s a constant number. The body does not make any more fat cells. But the fat cells can and do change depending on diet. They can go from microns, to huge fat cells. They are like a tiny balloon with fluid inside. They can expand, and fill up with triglycerides or oils. Or, remain micro.
Obesity causes fat cells to expand. Lacking obesity, the fat cell can remain in the micro range. Liposuction, removes the actual fat cells. They are gone forever. Fat cells will not return to the treated area, but if weight is gained, fat cells in other areas of the body can become bigger.
If the procedure was on the abdomen, and weight is gained later, tit will be seen and felt in the breasts, arms, buttocks, or inside the abdomen. The resulting fat is the visceral fat. Visceral fat is responsible for diabetes, heart disease, because it is under the muscle, inside the gut. Only diet and exercise will reduce that fat.”
Thus, the answer is also no. Gaining weight will compromise the effects of the liposuction and can lead to the wide array of issues. we’ve noted are possible.
